The Hapsburgs are famous for their defects due to inbreeding. This must also be true for ancient Egyptian royalty who routinely married their siblings, but if that is the case, why have I never heard of it?

During Eid, in some Muslim communities, males are expected to visit family and give relatives’ children small sums of money. When did this practice emerge? Was it associated with economically bad times as a means to give relatives an extra source of income without embarrassing the adults?
